Database server performance parameters

Use the parameters listed in Table 3–9 to optimize server performance.

Delay writing the last before-image (BI) file records.

Message buffer size
Specify the message buffer size for network client/server protocols.

VLM page table entry optimization (digital UNIX only)
Allocate shared memory in multiples of 8MB for VLM64 support.
-Mxs n 
Shared-memory overflow size (UNIX, Windows only)
Replace the default value of the shared-memory overflow area.

Number of users
Specify the maximum number of users connected to the database.
-PendConnTime n 
Pending Connection Time
Specify the amount of time a client has to connect to a server before the broker clears the client’s reservation.
-pinshm 
Pin shared memory
Prevent the database engine from swapping shared memory contents to disk.

Semaphore sets (UNIX only)
Change the number of semaphore sets available to a broker.

Spin lock retries (UNIX, Windows only)
Specify the number of times a process tries to acquire a latch before pausing.
